Rockland Luggage Set – Durable, Expandable Travel Collection
Our Melbourne collection offers hardside protection with lightweight ABS construction that stands up to baggage handlers and overhead bins. The set includes a 20-inch carry-on, 24-inch medium check, and 28-inch large check — three sizes that nest inside each other for compact home storage.
Each piece features eight multi-directional spinner wheels for effortless maneuvering through crowded terminals, fully-lined interiors with zippered dividers to keep clothing organized, and expandable capacity when you need extra room on the return trip. We built these cases with internal aluminum pull handles and TSA-approved combination locks so your belongings stay secure without slowing you down at checkpoints.

Materials & Construction

We manufacture Rockland luggage sets using materials selected for their balance of weight, durability, and cost. Our hardside collections use ABS thermoplastic and polycarbonate shells — ABS offers rigid impact protection at a lighter weight than traditional polypropylene, while polycarbonate flexes under stress to prevent cracking during rough handling.
Softside sets feature 600-denier or 1200-denier polyester with water-resistant polyurethane coating. We reinforce high-stress points with double stitching and ballistic nylon corner guards. Zippers across all our luggage sets come from YKK with self-repairing coil construction, and we use aluminum or fiberglass-reinforced resin for telescoping handles depending on the collection.
Sizing & Capacity

Our three-piece sets include a 20-inch carry-on that fits most airline overhead bins (measurements include wheels and handles), a 24-inch medium check suitable for 5-7 day trips, and a 28-inch large check for extended travel or family packing. Carry-on dimensions typically measure 20″ H x 13.5″ W x 9″ D, though you should verify current size limits with your specific airline before travel.
Expandable models add approximately two inches of depth when you unzip the expansion gusset, increasing interior volume by 20-25 percent. We recommend using expansion only when necessary, as overpacking can strain zippers and make cases harder to maneuver. Four-piece softside sets substitute a rolling duffel and tote for the medium hardside check, giving you more packing configurations for gear that doesn’t fit neatly in upright cases.
Security & Locks

Every Rockland hardside set includes TSA-approved combination locks integrated into the main compartment zippers. These locks allow Transportation Security Administration agents to open and inspect your luggage using a master key without cutting your locks or damaging zippers. You set your own three-digit combination using the instructions included with each case.
Softside sets ship with lockable zipper pulls — you supply your own TSA-approved padlock or cable lock to secure the main compartments. We space the zipper pulls close enough that a small cable lock can loop through both pulls to prevent opening. Interior zippered pockets on all our sets do not include locks, so we recommend keeping valuables and medications in your carry-on rather than checked bags.

Rockland Luggage Set Questions
Our three-piece sets include a 20-inch carry-on, 24-inch medium check, and 28-inch large check. Four-piece sets add a rolling duffel and travel tote to a 28-inch and 20-inch upright. Two-piece sets pair a 20-inch carry-on with either a 24-inch check or a 14-inch cosmetic case. All measurements include wheels and handles.
Carry-on dimensions meet most airline overhead bin requirements, but you should verify size limits with your specific carrier before travel as policies vary.
Most of our hardside spinner sets feature expandable designs with a zippered gusset that adds approximately two inches of depth to the main compartment. This increases packing capacity by 20-25 percent when you need extra room for return trips or bulky items.
Softside uprights in our Journey and similar collections include external compression straps instead of expansion zippers — these straps cinch down contents to reduce bulk rather than adding capacity.
Yes, all our hardside luggage sets include integrated TSA-approved combination locks on the main compartment zippers. You set your own three-digit code, and TSA agents can open the locks using a master key for inspection without damaging your case.
Softside sets ship with lockable zipper pulls but do not include padlocks — you supply your own TSA-approved lock to secure the main compartments.
Hardside sets range from 8 to 11 pounds per case depending on size and material. Our 20-inch ABS carry-ons weigh approximately 8 pounds empty, while 28-inch polycarbonate cases weigh around 10.5 pounds. Softside uprights are lighter — the 28-inch Journey upright weighs 7.2 pounds.
Weight specifications appear in the product features list for each set, and we design all cases to maximize interior capacity while staying within airline weight limits for checked and carry-on bags.
Many of our collection styles are available as individual pieces in addition to multi-piece sets. You can purchase a matching 20-inch carry-on, 24-inch check, or 28-inch upright separately to expand your collection or replace a single case. Color and finish matching is guaranteed within the same collection name and year.
Contact our customer service team with your set’s collection name and color to verify availability of individual matching pieces.
We cover manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under our limited warranty for the time period specified on the registration card included with your set. The warranty covers issues like broken zippers, defective wheels, or handle malfunctions that result from manufacturing flaws.
Cosmetic damage from airline handling, normal wear and tear, and damage from misuse or accidents are not covered. We recommend purchasing additional travel insurance for checked luggage if your packed items have high replacement value.
Clean hardside shells with a damp cloth and mild dish soap, avoiding abrasive cleaners that scratch the finish. For softside cases, spot-clean with warm water and gentle detergent using a soft brush, then air-dry completely before storing.
Wipe wheels after each trip to remove debris, and lubricate wheel axles and telescoping handles annually with silicone spray if you notice stiffness. Store cases in a cool, dry location with zippers slightly open to allow air circulation and prevent odors.
